I have been obsessing over sewing a pair of rosie the riveter type overalls...but couldn't find a pattern that fit me.  Them ladies in the 40's were kinda skinny!!
So I morphed two patterns (something I do a lot of) into a reasonable facsimile of what I was looking for!!

I give you....my 1940's overalls (with some help from my Boston, Spencer)

They are made out of a polyester blend khaki colored fabric.  The buttons are gold-tone with anchors.  I had a few hiccups along the way.  This is the second incarnation of these as the first ones didn't fit AT ALL!!  I buggered up the zipper a bit and the crotch is a bit shallow....but overall, pretty comfortable and totally wearable!!

Ok, I finally got off my lazy butt and took pictures of the two patterns I used for this to share with you guys.  I'm pretty sure the pants pattern is out of print.  I've had that pattern for ages!!

I knew what they were the second I saw them!  What a great tribute to an American Icon!  GREAT job!

I'm not normally a big fan of overalls, but yours are so well done. I also ADORE your hair!

So you've got darts under the bust and gathers around the waist (taking notes).  I've been admiring people's old-fashioned overalls for a little while now and this makes me feel I could pull it off without a pattern.  They're great.
