I have been obsessing over sewing a pair of rosie the riveter type overalls...but couldn't find a pattern that fit me.  Them ladies in the 40's were kinda skinny!!
So I morphed two patterns (something I do a lot of) into a reasonable facsimile of what I was looking for!!

I give you....my 1940's overalls (with some help from my Boston, Spencer)

They are made out of a polyester blend khaki colored fabric.  The buttons are gold-tone with anchors.  I had a few hiccups along the way.  This is the second incarnation of these as the first ones didn't fit AT ALL!!  I buggered up the zipper a bit and the crotch is a bit shallow....but overall, pretty comfortable and totally wearable!!

Ok, I finally got off my lazy butt and took pictures of the two patterns I used for this to share with you guys.  I'm pretty sure the pants pattern is out of print.  I've had that pattern for ages!!

So you've got darts under the bust and gathers around the waist (taking notes).  I've been admiring people's old-fashioned overalls for a little while now and this makes me feel I could pull it off without a pattern.  They're great.

I love these! What patterns did you use to get your general idea? I'd love to try something like this.

I love the style of your jumpsuit, the dart fitted bust, the snug mid
rift area, and the gathers in the front and back at the waist, so very 40's. The answer would be yes to the question of whether you reminded me of Rosie the Riveter. I would love to make something like it, but because of lack of flexability from a back injury and living alone, I wondering if I could put the zipper in a side seam and have the straps unbutton in the front.

Absolutely you could change these any way you needed.  My original intention was to have it zip up the back and button up the sides...but in my excitement to get them sewn I sewed up the sides seams before I could but in the button placket.  *L*

I would totally have the straps button in the front...I will tell you that using the bathroom alone is a bit of a challenge with the buttons AND the zipper on the back....have to do some dislocation of the shoulders to get them undone.  *L*

Applause!!!  These look great on you and very flattering.  I like the idea of having the zipper on the back.  Are you going to make another pair in a different color?  How about red?!

I love love my Boston!!  Such a cheese!!

I think you could pull them off!!  I think everyone could pull them off.  They are soooo comfy, and because the bottom half is pleated and loose, it hides my very flaw-filled middle half!  *L*

These are so awesome.  You did a great job on a comfy, totally wearable, kinda dressy look.  Love it.  I also love that you have a pattern from "Full Figure Solutions", because our full figures have to be solved?  Cheesy
