Fresh off the washing line: Coconut Ice
Machine pieced from leftover fabric. I made my DD clothes when she was little and had leftover girly colours in the stash to use. She is now 9 and not so into pink!
I bought the white on white fabric (3 metres!) I tried to recycle a sheet for the backing, but she insisted on specially bought fabric with puppies on it. She chose two different sorts, so it has a pieced backing.
She also talked me into buying a jelly roll to use for the binding, so it has a pieced binding. (I was planning to just use the plain pink) The batting is bamboo. It felt soooo gorgeous and silky.
To make the plain pink squares more interesting, I embroidered cute things on them. This was a collaborative effort, with my DD drawing some designs and giving ideas.

I did not really plan it, I just started in one corner and kept going until it was big enough for her bed. I had to go back twice to the shop for more white, I thought 1 metre would be enough at the start! Each row has a mixture of fabrics in it, but I did not bother to mix up the next row up, so there are blocks of the same colour. Adds to the scrappiness I think.
It is my second go at machine quilting. I bought a walking foot and a spool of variagated thread. I just did a grid pattern across the whole thing, with a circle around each embroidered square to make them stand out.
Please note: first go at mitred corners! very proud of myself!
I made a rainbow type thing in the first border. This was time consuming, so I chose to go back to a grid for the pink border.
Believe it or not, when I was taking this shot of her butterfly, a real butterfly flew over and landed on the binding!
