I know that I've received a surprise ball before in a swap, but it was years ago. I would like to host a swap for surprise balls. Information on what a surprise ball is can be found here:

http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.hippyshopper.com/surprise%2520ball.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.hippyshopper.com/2008/11/galleries/making_christma.php%3Fpic%3D3&h=285&w=360&sz=37&tbnid=YoCtvg-vfFq9yM:&tbnh=96&tbnw=121&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dsurprise%2Bball&zoom=1&q=surprise+ball&hl=en&usg=__o1T0jAamZLvBMV5kByGuuU1GcS8=&sa=X&ei=UpwoTd-dEsGB8gb8ypHyAQ&ved=0CCcQ9QEwAg

Anyone interested???

In the surprise balls we could add small crafts that we've completed for our partners, de-stash small items, include a "one skein" pattern to use the yarn that the ball is wrapped in.

For non-knitters/crocheters the ball can be wrapped in fabric ribbon, paper ribbon, bias tape, crepe paper.

Any other ideas??

YES!! Cheesy
Someone brought up this idea a bit ago...http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=365798.0

I was interested then and I am still interested now.  I love surprise balls myself but would love them even more if they included cool goodies rather than generic cheap ones.

Na ma'am, it's basically the exact same thing, just a different name.

OOOOO....
The ones I usually get have been crepe paper, I love the idea of ribbons and lace trim!!!  I have never done the Magic Yarn Ball swap because it always appeared to lean towards knitters/crocheters (I could be wrong) and I am neither.  Of course I could still use some chunky yarn (both in natural hair colors or fun colors) for doll hair...I suppose.

I have sent messages to dogsarecool and kayrun to make sure I'm not stepping on any toes by opening this thread for input.

dogsarecool started another thread about Surprise Balls/Magic Yarn Balls as a potential swap. kayrun hosted the 14th Magic Yarn Ball Swap.

If they don't mind, I'll host this swap.
