I made this cowl for a final project for one of my classes this last semester, but more importantly I also made it for this challenge!  The planets aligned just right for me to get two birds with one stone. This cowl is done in single crochet with two strands of navy acrylic yarn with two patterns of cabling and is finished with a twist in it. The snowflakes and scalloped edges are crocheted with white cotton thread. I love love love the cables, it's just a series of interlocking loops instead of double crocheting around the posts, I think it looks much more attractive!  Sorry for the crummy pictures, the cowl is still sitting in the classroom to be picked up. Oops!

Its super soft and cuddly Smiley

It's very pretty ^_^ The turn that you put into the loop helps it to lay nice and flat and shows off both sides of the crocheted fabric in a very attractive way! Would you be able to put up a quick tutorial on how you did the "loop" cabling? It sounds like an interesting technique!
