I wanted to make sort of a 3-D painting.  I approached this piece with an attitude of mostly wanting to learn/figure out the best way to approach this type of project/medium and wasn't super concerned with the finished product (although I did end up liking the end result quite a bite).

The sculpture is done of paper mache and I did it on a canvas panel.  The panel warped a bit from the moisture of the paste, so my next project will probably be on wood (or something else more substantial).  I think I'd like to do a full head of a creature (instead of just the face) in sort of a taxidermy style sometime in the future.

It was a REALLY fun project, so I am already looking forward to doing more.  Smiley

How fun! You did a really good job smoothing the finish of the papier mache...most ends up looking like pasted-on strips fo paper!

Cool beans! I love stuff that comes out at you from it's base, and I like that his coloring is on both the canvas and the paper mache body.  Grin
