I've made many gingerbread houses in the past, but this is my first house of cards! I had fun painting the face cards with food dye mixed with the royal icing. I used the Piparkakut cookie recipe from the New York Times. It has black pepper in addition to the other typical spices. Some of the cards are portraits of friends. My daughter helped too!

This is so clever. I can't believe you got them all to stack so high (I can't even do that with regular cards. Wink )

That's fantastic!  It's such a creative take on a "gingerbread house", and the details on the handpainted cards are lovely!

This is insane (in a FANTASTIC way!), and by far the very MOST creative gingerbread house I've ever seen!  Awesome job! Grin

So highly creative and artistically detailed!  Your work is stunning.  I'm in awe. Not sure that I would have the patience or the talent to complete such a project.

PS I just checked out the recipe you used.  I love my own, but will definitely give that one a try.  Thanks.
