Ooh, is anybody interested in a contest this month? Anyone who finishes a quilt off of their list can be entered into it and then I'll do a random drawing from those people. The winner will get some fabric!

Sure, why not!

Sun-wed I assembled blocks, trimmed and iron, finished the top, sandwiched and started quilting a baby quilt for a girl at work.  Problem is the baby shower is tomorrow... I dunno that i'm going to finish quilting, bind it and throw it in the wash (along with make cupcakes).  I promise, this wasn't a procrastination thing...they told me a week ago that they wanted to do the party this friday - at that point I had only bought the fabric.

I'm in!  I have made a few things, but not from my list.  Grin
I keep seeing posts about mug rugs, so yesterday I made a couple.  I have made a handbag (though this was a model for the quilt shop I work at) and the purse and extras for the fill a purse swap I joined (my first swap and it was fun).
So now I am ready to tackle my list.

Just a finish, as long as it's off your list!

MareMare, what a fabulous idea.

I know what I'm doing all through reading week!

I keep looking longingly at my quilt blocks and wishing I had the time to sit down and sew a little.

MareMare, that's a lovely idea  Smiley
I'm still working on finishing a quilt that's not in the list. Hopefully I'll start on the list in a couple of weeks. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

I finished baby quilt # 1 of 2011.  I was in tears by 11 last night, and wished it luck as I threw it in the washing machine.  I still suck at binding, and there's one line of stitching I wish I could rip out and re-do (too late now) and I did a little hand tacking this morning, but other than that, I'm proud.  I'll post pictures when I get home tonight.

Waggonswest--I love using basting spray...I was worried at first because the only place I could spray was in my living room on the carpet...but, if you stay away from the edges, no spray gets on the carpet!  I have been doing this for years, and I still have the same carpet! Cheesy

I think a lot of people think it is going to gum up the needle...I have not had that problem, but then again, I like sharp needles so I change them after every quilt...

I think the challenge will motivate me to get a quilt done in February and maybe even catch up for January! Cheesy

Always - I was just thinking last night that I never change my needle...I really think the one I'm using has been in for about six months now.  Not a lot of projects have been sewn in it, but it's probably time...do you guys find that a sharp needle makes a huge difference?  My mom used to say she changed hers everytime she refilled her bobbin, but that seemed a little excessive to me...idk.

Changing your needle often makes a HUGE differece.  Please trust me, I run a costume shop so I literally sew for a living.  I pull out a new needle when I start to piece a quilt front, and then another when I begin to quilt the layers.
