Can anyone suggest some tutorials for finishing binding by hand?  I want to try it because it makes the backs of the quilts look so much neater

You mean just sewing the last step by hand or sewing the whole thing by hand? I have several great links but they are for sewing the front on by machine and then hand sewing the back.

kwiltykate - those scrappy blocks rock!  Love the way the sashing sets them off.  They are perfect!  You just inspired me...and you are seriously one of my most favorite quilters out there - so creative and talented!  Cheesy

Aww.. thank you!!

this is the one that made me 'get' how to  mitre corners.  i like a larger (wider) binding strip than most use, and i think i made up how i sew it down. i'm still not sure what blind stitch looks like.  Smiley

still plugging along on the heart quilts, have the heart blocks almost put together, maybe by this evening I will be on to ironing them and then starting on the sashing and putting it all together.

Gorgeous quilts everyone.  Kwilty... I second Bethie.  You are one of my favorite quilters.  I love the stuff that you do.

Do you have any special trick for the target quilting?  I have a finished raw-edge circle quilt that is demanding concentric circles.  I'm just not sure if I can do it as neatly as you have done on your string blocks or that I can do it consistently wonky.
