Urban Threads...............a Tribute!

Hey Everyone...

I'm reposting it here as a separate post because I believe strongly the importance of sharing and spreading the word when I find a good product just as I feel strongly in sharing and spreading the word when I find a product that sucks. Urban Threads does not suck!

Here's my original post..........
I purchased this same design from UT a couple of months ago. I test stitched it out and it stitched beautifully. I haven't put it on anything yet but I'm dying to.

What's more.... I had to take my machine in for some updates and adjustments because it stopped stitching properly right in the middle of another design.

So I left the emb in the hoop and loaded up the whole mess.
My repair person fixed the machine and we finished embroidering the design right there. While it was running we chatted and she commented that 'this design sure is stitching nicely. It is well digitized.' Her words. So I shared the name of the Urban Threads website with her. She's not a digitizer but those of us who emb a lot can recognize a well digitized design from a crappily digitized design because we embroider a lot and have experienced our share of both

One more thing. Last year I did a little digitizing. When I say a little I mean very little. It is time consuming and tedious. I have a new-found respect for someone who takes the time to work with a design till it stitches out perfectly. It's easy to want to give in before that.

Ok, back to now times...

They are having a sale till the 9th. Some designs are only $1.00 and trust me when I say they are worth their REGULAR price. I took advantage of it yesterday. Now I have so many plans for recons with these newly purchased designs I can't fit them all in my head

Thanks for the reccomendation. I've been admiring the designs for a while and debating about the sale. It's good to hear that they stitch up well.

Is there any way to know a well digitized design from a bad one before buying it and stitching it up?

Not that I know of. Only after. You can open the design in editing software if you have it and you can see if the stitches are all wonky or not. But before there's just no telling. If they show an actual scan of the stitched out design you may be able to tell in close observation. Try taking a look at UT's designs and then compare them to some others on the net and see if you can tell.

I've noticed that a couple of sites that sell designs have a few freebies to try like bunnycup, embroiderydesigns, embroiderylibrary, and embroiderthis. Perhaps if I tried one of the freebie designs by the same designer then that could be an indication as to how their designs for sale might turn out.

I think that's a fine idea. If one of theirs is good then chances are the others are as well.

Urban Threads is a great site - and the people who do the digitizing were interns at Embroidery Library - which is also why they have the same style and similar designs sometimes

They are also super dense like EL's designs.  You have to really loosen up the stitches to stitch on tshirts sometimes.

I will also throw in my 2 cents.  I absolutely love Urban Threads!  I have purchased tons of their designs (full price, sale price and always get the freebies) and have only had one problem with one stitching out and it was my machine's problem, not the design.  The designs are great and there is a lot of variety so I would think most people would be able to find something they like.  I am partial to their Dia de los Muertos and tattoo-inspired designs.  Even my husband likes their designs and often will tell me to put a few in my cart and he buys them for me.  Seriously, if there was not a site like Urban Threads out there, I doubt I would ever use an embroidery machine.

I love Urban threads too. being a digitizer myself I rarely download designs from other sites but Urban threads is just so cool I can't resist some of there stuff.

I lusted after the designs at UT loooooong before I got my machine. (In fact, their cute stuff was a big part of the motivation to get an embroidery machine.)

I love making the mini lace top hats, and will soon be doing the mini lace tricorns, too.
