Alright, for my first post I think I'll put something I decorated a few months back. I only have a few crappy iPhone pics that my buddy took, and they do not do this thing justice!

First off- the entire thing is a 12 inch layer buttermilk cake with raspberry compote filling, (thing ended up weighing at least 10lbs) and this baby is rendered entirely in buttercreme frosting...

exceptin' them tiny 1.5 inch-round hand-painted fondant circles on the sides that show the emblems of some of the other gods in D&D (this one is Nerull, but I also put in Tiamat, Wee Jas, and about 4 others)

Whatcha think, my wonderful nerdlings?

Wow, that's awesome! And I'm not even a nerdling (of the D&D variety, anyway.)  lol

Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.

I may not be into D&D, but I can appreciate a good dragon and this one is especially amazing (the fact that it involves icing and cake - two of my favourite things - doesn't hurt). You did an incredible job.

Is this something that you do somewhat regularly or are you just awesome at following a whim?

Awesome, awesome, awesome!  When I clicked on this, I thought it was jewelry or something...cake?!?  OMG.  Beautiful and full of sugar?  What more can anyone ask for, really?

I'm just blown away by how beautiful the dragon is, and I'm totally lovin' on Nerull.  Of course, I'm always lovin' on Nerull so that's not so surprising. Wink  If you've got Erythnul on there too, this cake might just be even more perfect (if that's possible).

The details are great, the blending and the textures. I have to keep this out of sight of my children as I can lever live up to that. Part of me want to show it to everyone I know. "Look at this cake!"
