My completely DIY wedding adventure becomes ever more treacherous
«

So this will be my wedding thread, and it will be updated obsessively...
5 months, $3000, 150 guests...
but wait! It gets even better!
We are now expecting our first bundle of joy!
So our wedding will no longer be in May 2011, but will have to wait until he returns home from deployment, so Sept or Oct 2012. Which lets me relax a little.
Is it possible? Maybe. Will it be disastrous? Probably. Will it be fun? Definitely!!!
ANY IDEAS/COMMENTS ARE WELCOME!!!!!!!!
We have my DRESS!!!! Which took my planned very informal wedding to a formal one so fast it left my head spinning. It fit like a glove, no alterations needed, pre-pregnancy, might need to get the zipper replaced with a corset back or something. now
The ceremony venue! Maybe.... Hope we can get the deposit back, lol
Triple white with orange curd filling, yum yum. Sounds even better to me now.
the boutonnieres
The idea behind the pillow
whoo!whoo! By nixing the bridesmaids flowers I saved enough money to hire a decent dj!
We're having a "wedding tree" as an alternative to guestbook (just waiting on my artistic husband to get off his butt and paint me a gorgeous, many-branched tree (with our initials "carved into the bark!")
Anakin/Padme cake toppers. We chose them for 2 reasons: 1)My dh is a HUGE Star Wars nerd and 2) Anakin and Padme were also secretly wed (which is the real reason)
We have several ideas:

--I made an army garter for my wedding! Definitely one of the easiest wedding crafts. (If you sew, anyway)
--Coffee filter roses are WONDERFUL but time consuming! I made over 100 and LOVED how they came out.
--Veils are another easy/time-consuming project - my mom made my cathedral length veil and sewed a pearl strand around the whole edge.
Enjoy!!

Wow, really? thats insane that they'd jack up the price. Thanks for the tip!
To haylie- I def want a cathedral length veil with pearls. I am going to attempt it! As far as the garter goes, I keep attempting to sew, with pretty horrid results but I figured I could do this project pretty easily.

For the pearls I got a pearl strand at Micheals for $1 - it's just one of those cheap ones that come in a little plastic container. They were SO much easier than sewing on individual pearls! Ooh and learn from my mistake - when you buy the comb for the veil, get one with a fabric top - not one that's all plastic. Have you thought about what you want to do with the veil for the reception?

Thanks for the sites starcakes57!!!!!!!
Haylie---I have not thought of that at all...probably just wear it the entire time. Thanks for the heads up about the combs! Helpful tip to know ahead of time!

My mom and I found out about a great thing you can do with a cathedral length veil so it doesn't trail behind you the entire reception - you can actually attach a small thread in the middle and "bustle" it for the reception - it looks gorgeous. I ended up not doing it (my veil got burrs in it from walking around the ceremony site for photos and I ditched it as soon as I could haha) but I'd be happy to tell you more if you're interested!
