I have a really small house, so I have a little christmas tree that goes on my table which is perfect for my husband and myself but when I saw this perfectly good 6' tree on the side of the road I had to get it for some reason.

Now I don't know what to do with it and I need some ideas. I was going to make a wreath out of the branches and have the pole to celebrate Festivus...

please help!

(oh please excuse the mess - I just got done making a magazine strip purse and it was kinda messy)

Initial thought: donate it to a charity house, hospital, shelter, etc. or to a family who can't afford a tree, so they can use it next year.

Secondary thought: recycle it! Artificial trees like that are about 85 - 90% metal.

Then I quit thinking like the people I've been volunteering with off and on for the past couple of months...

Wreaths. Swags. Supports to hang birdhouses/fairy houses/butterfly boxes from posts or fences. Paint a giant trunk in the corner of a bedroom, and use the branches (radiating outward) to hang from the ceiling, so it looks like you're laying under a tree looking up at it. All sorts of good stuff!

Ok, so I know this is old, but just in case anyone like me is looking just for the heck of it, I brainstormed and came up with an idea. One I might do in a few months, actually. I work in a doctor's office, so I have a lot of patients coming and going. We raise money every year for Relay for Life and we come up with ideas for how to raise money. I am thinking something really cool would be to have all different colors of ribbon, to coordinate with the types of cancer ( or if you are doing all illnesses, check those too) then have people buy a length of ribbon for say $2.00 or so. Allow them to write their loved one's name on the ribbon and tie it to the tree. Not only would it be very neat looking, but it would also be a great reminder of the struggles everyone face through life, and the strength that is behind them to help them fight for a cure. I'm thinking I might be doing this in October...have a Breast Cancer memorial tree. Now to find some pink Christmas lights.....lol

Can you use the branches and link them together for garland?

My husband and I created pink/red light strands for a party by removing the multi colored lights from a bunch of different strands and replacing with just the pink and red bulbs.  For the other lights, we created a few blue & gold strands for my little brothers party celebrating his graduation from PITT.  It came out REALLY cute!!!
