This is Simplicity 2338. I made a change on the collar. Instead of wrapping over the bust, I made it end above the bust; to reduce the bulk it would add to a large bust. I like the change. I just used the pattern piece marked "left collar" on both sides. I did not modify it at all. I did however do a FBA which brought the empire waist down 3 inches. Doing the FBA and not changing the collar naturally created this design. The collar tucks into the CF seam on the bodice. I did a hand picked zipper and a hand sewn blind hem. I really did this up right. It was my opus.
This is the back:

There was however, one HUGE, HORRIBLE, EVIL, UNEXPECTED thing that happened with this dress......I go into the sordid details of that in the blog link in my signature if you like a good sewing wreck (with action pics).

Oh you made such a beautiful dress, I feel your pain over the spots "melting"!

Fab dress!  It looked amazing on you.  Can't believe it melted though, what a bummer!

I love the fabric! I love the dress! Why did it have to melt? Embarrassed
Have you got a bolero that matches to wear with it?

I do have a black bolero that might work. But what I worry about is that if I lift my arms for any reason, that those faded spots will stick out like a sore thumb.

Do you think you could use a permanent ink marker to redraw the spots so that it wouldn't be quite so noticeable?  I know the texture wouldn't be there, but maybe it would do?

I keep rereading you dilemia with this dress. It is so heartbeart to see this has happened to such a lovely design. Have you thought of fading the rest of the dress. May washing it a few times, then dyeing it back to the red. You look fabulous in red.
