I'm not sure why I made these, now... but I just suppose I saw a way.  They are quite silly.  Must take advantage of the age where a child can wear thumbless mittens!  Wink

It's a good use of scrap yarn, and also, once outgrown, they can be thrown in with the play food.

If anyone is interested there's a pattern/tutorial with pdf on my website here.
And here's the ravelry page.

GAH!  these are adorable!  I may have to try a crochet version to give to my good friend who is pregnant with a baby girl.  she's due 9 May so I've got plenty of time to perfect it Smiley

hee! thanks!

danger.kitty - I actually think the top would be easier in crochet.  I was thinking about doing a mix of knit cake with crochet icing, but I'm a knitter at heart...

Oooh those are just too nifty! I will have to try to make some of those.  Grin

Hmm.. Would a bobble up top for decoration be too much or unsafe?

Technically, yes... and for this child, definitely.   My elder never put things in her mouth, but this one...  I'd say, it depends on the child.  You could do something in felt that was sewn on really well, and that would probably be fine?  but I'm not an expert...  Or duplicate stitch?
