I'm also planning to make fabric giftbags for whatever gifts I buy or make.

I have been wanting to do that for years, and I have never gotten around to it. I have the fabric and everything! Maybe this year is the year!

Welcome to all of the newbies! Did you see that this thread made it to the Craftster homepage? AGAIN? ((It has each year that we've done it)) YAYYYYYYYYY Crusaders!

I made embroidered gift bags this year.  The process of sewing 16 osanburg cloth bags was extremely tedious, but the results were really nice!  I forgot to take photos of all of them, but here's an extra set of bags that I  put into my Shop the Swap shop:

From my experience of last year, I think starting early is the key for fabric gift bags!

ha ha ha "IOU" gifts...yeah, I owe a lot of people as well...mostly knit stuff...

I bought a huge stack of Christmas paper on clearance to get started on cards---my hubby does the newsletter and I do the cards...last year we sent out over 50 but I copped out and had to buy them because I was behind...if I start now, I won't feel overwhelmed!

I received some nice cloth gift bags from my sewing students...I recycled them as storage for my summer shoes and to throw into my suitcase to keep my clothes clean...I kept some of the nicer ones to pass on next year--they really are quite useful for so many things...

mini list:
paper trees
recycled greeting card baskets
cornstarch ornaments
greeting cards-60
origami ball ornaments
bitten gingerbread ornaments
felted knitted stockings (3)
holiday afghan for my niece
tree skirts (2)
new scarves and hats for everyone (8 sets)

Oh, Wonderfull - the tread is up again - the year is saved!  Cheesy And I promise myself to be good this year. Maybee I should start with giftbags - I can do that. But it is hard getting ideas. I hope to get a lot of inspiration.

Thank you, Stoliedina.

alwaysinmyroom, i like that your list includes so many xmas decoration items!  love the idea of tree skirts.   will you be giving them as gifts?  i've bookmarked this fabulous modern patchwork tree skirt, but i usually can't get motivated to make something for myself!  maybe if it's a gift, though....  Smiley

That tree skirt is so cute and I am in need of a proper one. We use a tablecloth and kind of drape it around the base of the tree, and it's shifty all the time. I have the same problem as you though - I can never motivate to make things for myself!!!

I make ornaments for each household in my extended family every year, and I think I am going to start my Christmas crafting with these guys: http://katiecupcake.blogspot.com/2009/11/tutorial-felt-polaroid-christmas.html I'm going to slip a cheesy pic of me and my hub inside Smiley

oneredbooot--it is a tradition with my friends that they drop by and get to pick out a handmade ornament out of a basket in my foyer...I also attach them to bottles of wine or plates of cookies, so I need lots and lots!! Cheesy

That tree skirt is gorgeous!  I need one for me and one for my niece..she has a blue/white theme each year while I do a more traditional red/green, so it will be fun to make two...

I love the picture ornaments!  They would make a great gift for my niece to put pics of her kids in each year!  They look fast and easy to make!
