Fair Isle Hat: Hanging with my Gnomies!

I knit this hat up for my sister for Christmas, she is a lover of gnomes and has been constantly asking me for a hat to match her red coat. It was my first attempt at pattern drafting, and this is what I came up with after creating about five different charts. Fair isle is actually very simple once you figure out how to get the different colors to stop getting tangled up and you get the tension right in the colors that you carry behind. While I was knitting it up, I must admit I thought it was pretty hideous, but once I finished, I loved it and was sad to give it away.
