I'd read about the Green Grocery Bag gift challenge on Sew Mama Sew and when I found out that to send gifts abroad by courier they needed to be inspected on collection I realised this was the perfect opportunity to sew some reuseable bags to be used in place of standard  gift wrap.

Grocery bags were going to be overkill for the small gifts I was sending and I didn't have a whole lot of time so drawstring pouches looked like the best idea. I'm fairly new to this whole sewing lark and I don't have a huge stash of fabric. I wanted something colourful that could pass for Christmas'sy but that could be used all year round and then I remembered I'd bought a set of tea towels ridiculously cheap a couple of weeks earlier and they'd be perfect. So I set about refashioning them into drawstring bags. See how here

Once I'd sussed the design, each bag took about 15 minutes, I made 9 bags in total from 4 teatowels and all for less than the cost of a roll of giftwrap :-)

Most of the bags had box corners, but I left some flat depending on the gift being wrapped

I really like this dotted pattern! Did you do it by youself or you bought it like that?

The teatowels came like that, a set of 3 patterns from Ikea - cheaper than buying fabric!
