Big Project stitch-along 2011

I've made some progress on my huge Zelda map (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=368565.msg4483858#msg4483858). It feels like it's going slowly, but I guess that's a lot because of the scale of it - each of those stitches i so small and I've still got so much left to do...

The part I've covered this far is about 35 x 55 cm (14 x 22 inches).

Here is my recent baby dragon update. Some excellent new too!! I didn't make a mistake-- well I did sort of. I didn't miss any rows!! Now I think I forgot to mark some rows off. I should be able to figure out what I did wrong in the next few days.

Oh, such good news. You really make awesome progress indeed. How do you do that?

I make little progress, compared to everyone else here, but I am proud of what I can do in between teaching and correcting. Here are two pics. Bit wrinkled, but I just took the hoop off, eager to continue .

I've been working on my current blackwork project since the end of May now and am slowly getting through it!!  I have so many cross stitch projects that I want to get going on but need to get to the end of this blackwork tunnel first!!

I've finally finished the four cuffs -



woop!! and am now embarking on the two collars.  I *really* underestimated how long this would take me to complete.  I think there are already well over 100+ hours spent on the project, and at least another 40 or so to go *I think*.  This linen is totally impossible, uber uber fine and incredibly tiny holes, so is currently causing just a bit of a headache!!  I will be very glad when they are finally finished and I can see them on the finished costume, but that moment looks like it will be forever away!! Here's the current progress on the first collar -



According to my boyfriend it resembles a birds eye view of a motorway at the moment lol.  I really hate stitching straight lines that are 17" long!!  Blackwork rant over

I hope no one will mind me jumping into this thread so late in the year.  I've been a part of Craftster for 5 1/2 years but most of that time has been spent on the Quilting, Crochet and Swap boards.  I learned to cross stitch when I was about 10 (a long time ago) and did quite a bit back then but once I got married and had children that craft kind of got put to the side.  I've done small projects, like bookmarks, occasionally but nothing of any size.  A few months ago I saw a Hoopla Swap and decided to give it a whirl.  I also did a private swap involving cross stitch and a few other items.  I then found this thread and it inspired me to attempt something largish and found a pattern I mostly liked so decided to go with it.

I know many of you posted pictures of what you are creating at the beginning of this thread but I don't want to do that since I'm eliminating a portion of the pattern in my project - I wanted a different look - and if I post a picture and then you see the finished project you'll wonder why I skipped that part 

This is the first time I've cross stitched anything that has multiple pages of pattern (didn't even know multi-paged patterns existed until now.)  It's also got the most colors I've ever used in one pattern (I think there are around 35.)  This pattern has 6 full pages and 2 half pages.  I plan to post progress pictures as I finish a page.  I don't stitch very fast and will probably only get to it on my days off or evenings so don't expect it too fast.

So, here's my first progress picture - I'm in the Dominican Republic right now and this was stitched while sitting on the beach working on my tan 

               

I'm sure as I post more pictures you'll eventually figure out what it is.

Well I have managed to get lots completed!! Only 4 more pages to go now!!
I'm still hoping to get this done by the end of the year.

I managed to get a page done yesterday but if you look at the photo you will see it's the same one I did the other day.  I went to start on page 2 and after a few stitches I thought 'there is no way I'm going to fit another 2 1/2 pages on this fabric.'  So I re-counted and realized, in my enthusiasm to get going, I had started page 1 in the wrong place!  So about 1 1/2 hours later I had all the stitches removed and was ready to start in the correct place.  If you look at the photo, just to the right of my stitching, you will see a little x - that's where I originally started the piece and you can see how far out I was.

       

I'm now on the right track and have managed to get page 2 started.  We fly home tomorrow and I hope to make some progress during the trip and on our layover.
