A friend wants me to make a Texas longhorn hat with horns....anyone have a free, easy pattern for the horns??

I should think it would be relatively easy! You could use this as an opportunity to potentially try your hand at, well, free-handing.

It's all about increasing at an interval that will eventually reflect the correct shape.

I would crochet each horn in the round, as follows:

- ch 2
- 4 sc in 2nd ch from hook - 4 stitches
- (2 sc in first st, 1 sc in next) X 2 - 6 stitches
- sc in each stitch around
- (2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next two sc ) around - 9
- sc in each stitch around for two or three rows (this is where the experimenting will come in. Refer to a picture you want to emulate, and see how quickly the horns get wider going down. If the get wider faster, you'll need to do fewer of these rows. If it's a slight increase, do more of this row.)
- (2 sc in next sc, sc in next three sc) around - 12
- sc in each stitch around for two or three rows.... etc...

I would attached them to a hat maybe?

Hope this helps!
