You can start ruing today because I have a working digital camera now, so time to inflict pictures of my craftiness on you all!

I embroidered this tote for my grandmother for Mother's Day.  I found the patterns in a post by Dyabolica!  Thanks, Dyabolica!!!!

A picture without the flash that shows the color a bit better:

The swirls in metallic floss were a pain till I accepted that I shouldn't try going in and out of the same hole multiple times.  There are more pictures (all close-ups) in my craftster gallery if you're interested.  Thanks for looking!

That came out really great!  Also, I agree with you, Dyabolica is pretty great, and metallic floss is the worst.

lmfao at the title! That came out super!!!I am so happy to see that I am not the only one who loved that pattern! As for metallic floss heres what I have learned, use a shorter length, because metallic is more delicate and the motion of in and out frays it, and thread heaven is your friend! I have found a new poduct made by kreinik thats a metallic filament that you blend with your regular floiss in the needle its ads sparkle and I have had better luck with it. I have also tried the machine metallic floss on spools and had luck with it.. I think the dmc stuff is crap, so I only use it when theres nothing else!

Aw come on, Meatllics aren't that bad!!   Wink   Tongue  I seriously think I am the only one of my cross stitching buddies that truly enjoys working with it!! I should add that I also use the blending filament from Kreinik.  Take a double length of the size ou want (shorter IS better) place the loop of the folded filament through your needle, thread the ends through to secure the filament to the needle (add regular floss now, or just use filament)

Your work is very nice!! Great job!

Thank you!  I'm going to have to find that Kreinik stuff!  I found thread heaven while I was out yesterday buying dressmaker's carbon (my new best friend for making embroidery patterns), but I can def. think of some times I could use the kreinik, too!  And you're right, the floss isn't sooo horrible.  I just learned on this project (big time) that I don't want it to rub against itself a whole lot because that's part of what made it fray (although I have to admit I'm terrible about sticking with short lengths - I don't like making knots   Roll Eyes)

That is a great tote!  ::: *must find things to emboider*:::

Admittedly I'm another Kreinik lover, however #8 braid sucks #4 is much more managable. Rainbow Gallery also makes some petite braids that are pretty spiffy and sometimes preferred over Kreinik.

Glad to be able to help.  Smiley

Yeah you can't find any good colors at local places unless you have a LNS nearby, which I don't. I get really good service from www.123stitch.com they don't show the colors but you can check them out at www.kreinik.com. I get a lot of stuff from a lady on ebay too.

I LOVE sparkles and kreiniks equal sparkles. My latest project that I kitted up requires six spools of kreinik (four different colors) and 39 packs of Mill Hill beads & treasures. BLING

I will whenever I get to start it, which could be a while. Until then you can see what it is supposed to look like here www.mirabilia.com it's the Enchanted Mermaid one and the picture does not do justice to how sparklie it is.

Right now I'm working on another one of hers called Seaside Kingdom which is also covered with sparkles. I CAN show you a WIP of that though here's a link http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v166/Laural/WIPs/seaking4.jpg

That is coming along beautifully!  I can't wait to see the completed project!  And then the mermaid when you make that one!!!!  I've seen that style before and I always think about trying one, but I probably wouldn't have the patience.  Outlines are one thing, but all that gorgeous filling in....
