I usually use a 1.15 or 1.25 mm crochet hook with embroidery floss for my tiny amis.

That sounds so intricate. Props to you!

I'm off to find some tiny patterns, too.

Is this going to happen in September? It really sounds fun, but I don't think I would be able to sign up for another until I finish the Newbie Swap 14 I just signed up for.

Aries- My hope is to have an ami swap of some kind every 4 to 6 months.  Not a hardfast schedule, but feel free to bug me if you are craving some amigurumi and nothing is listed.  Cheesy

LimeRiot- Does the floss split very much?  I've been considering it for some g-i-d elements on a firefly that has been floating around in my idea bank.

I like using sock-weight yarn and the smallest hook handy.  My smallest turtle was made that way.  I think I lost it, I'm not sure as it was about the size of the lint that gathers in my pockets.

goldfish - I think it's great that you plan to do an ami swap every 4 months or so. Thanks!! The last one was really fun. It's funny that you lost your tiny turtle because it was so small!! I've had the dogs eat a couple of mine Smiley.

The embroidery floss can be irritating to work with because it does split. If you use a slightly bigger hook it seems to make it easier though.

I find that the DMC Pearl cottons are the easiest to work with when making tiny amis. They are a little more expensive but there is plenty of yardage so you can get loads of amis out of them Smiley.

Here are a few examples of Tiny-amigurumi projects I've done in the past Smiley...

I might like to try this one depending on crafting time and send out. I never seem able to make easy small ami. If it's not a challenge for me it stays a WIP forever. So when I want little I use crystal crochet thread. Like a did on this ami of Tudi from Yo Gabba Gabba, a pattern by CraftyisCool on etsy.

I also need send outs  the second or third of the month as that's when I can get transportation into town.
That's Foofa! My 20-month-old told me. She is his girlfriend.

They are all so cute, even if you have to guard them from canine companions!  Mostly I've been going freeform or following some of the simple patterns posted by Angry Angel in her craft bazaar threads.

DMC cottons is a great tip!  I have some of those for my Teesha pillows Grin

*sigh*  I have been put on restriction from swapping...apparently hubby saw how much I spent on supplies & postage in the past couple of months.  Sad

Have fun gang!  I'll have to check out the gallery.
