puzzler - the very first line item of the swap info specifically states ONE MEDIUM item.  That medium item can be a set, like a set of 4 placemats, for example, but this is not a swap to make 3-5 points of items.  That's the beauty of it Smiley  One medium or set to make a medium, please.

On the questions about fabric scraps from other projects or stash fabric, I am going to have to go with no on that, sorry.  Everyone has an old bedsheet, sweater, worn out jeans or overalls, tons of pop tabs, corks, magazines, broken jewelry, etc. etc. that can be taken and turned into something else.  Heck, old bedsheets are my biggest fount of materials when crafting pants, totes, dresses, and tops!  If it's going to be truly recycled or upcycled, it has to be made from another item in the true sense of repurposing.  Thanks for the questions!

This could be really fun.  I'd have to think about what to do though.  Hmmm...  what could I upcycle??

Reclaim yarn from a sweater and knit or crochet into something else? (Your av inspired that suggestion!  LOL!)

I was kind of musing to myself out loud....  I'm just not sure what to use.  I could also do a polymer clay covered Altoid or tea tin...  I don't suppose that would really be upcycling though.  Huh  If I decide to join I feel confidant I'll figure something out.

I think I've decided to pass on this one, but I'll be anxiously awaiting your gallery.  I know it will be full of great things.  I got all stressed out just trying to figure out what I'd do, and I really don't want to start the year all stressed out over a swap.  You guys have fun!

Alright, in cleaning out my closet (it's been on my 'to do' list for three years now), I found an old skirt I was going to donate.  However, it would make a great purse.  Only thing is ... can I use new interfacing?  As far my mental plans go, that'd be the only 'new' thing - the lining and such would also be from the skirt.

Yesss! This one's right up my alley!  Grin Come on, all you FOCs -- Craftster is brimming full of ideas and inspirations for making something from something else! So are tons of people's wists!
I think as long as the main component of the item is reclaimed/upcycled, the supplies that transform it (such as the interfacing) can be new...but correct me if I'm wrong, TSM.

I'm very tempted. I have been buying cot sheets and pillow cases from our local charity store for my I-spy quilt, but I only need a couple of 2.5" squares from each, so there is loads left over to upcycle. I wonder if I could do a mini art quilt with the left overs? Or a quilted cushion cover?

I think I will make my item before I sign up, I have got a few things on at the moment and I want to be sure I can fullfill my comitments.

Awww...bummer, gamemom!  I hope I'll see you in another round, and yes, keep an eye out for the gallery!

Yup, you are correct, calluna Smiley  Main materials should be recycled and components used to put them together (ie glue, thread, interfacing, etc.) can be either recycled (like buttons or zippers) or new.

nilmerg, that's the whole idea, actually Smiley  The long signup time is to facilitate crafting the item, or to craft it before signing up and then sign up when finished.  Hope to see you in here!
