I bought my wedding dress yesterday at a lovely  discounted price but it is a little plain compared to what I had invisioned. My mother is a wonderful seamstress and says she will sew some beading or flowers or something onto the dress to spruce it up and give me some "bling".

My colors are light (powder) pink, charcoal gray and white. I am leaning towards a vintage feel. I really want to add "something" to the dress but I am not sure of what, there is a nice gathering on the side of the dress where I'd love to put something. I've found some flowers on etsy that I think might look nice but I could really use some professional help, ladies! What do YOU think?

Here are some pictures, one of my dress and then a couple of others to give you an idea of what kind of "feel" I am going for....

This is my dress, a simple off the shoulder A-line.

This is the style of bridesmaids dress I want, we haven't bought any yet so if you have suggestions please, suggest away!

These are the shoes I saw at the store and fell IN LOVE with, charcoal Nina Erna Pumps. I love the rhinestones on the toe, I think it looks very vintage.

I discovered this garter on Etsy from itsmyday, the colors are perfect and I am definitely going to get it!

I found these flowers on Etsy from TwistedCrystals, I thought these might look good alond the gathering at the side of my dress but I am not completely sure.... either way these flowers are beautiful!

It's a gorgeous dress and I love everything else you've picked.

I like the idea of the flowers...or maybe just little pearls...something simple that still adds a bit of punch.

if you want some sparkle you could use the heat fix crystals and accent the gathering to the side.

or use some soft gray/silver netting a crossed the top of the bodice tucked into the gathers as a kind of mini cardigan or caplet.

You could buy plain grey pumps and get your mother to sew the rhinestones on, and then, you could use the same rhinestones on the dress to co-ordinate the entire look, plus it would all be unique!

I love everything too!  What about a hint of color (pale pink?) in the flowers you are thinking about.

here are some ideas I (badly) whipped up in Paint. By silver I meant charcoal gray...

This one's simple, but It would both match the color scheme, and it would make it look like you really match the bridesmaids' dresses, as if your dress is the more elegant version of theirs.

this one I messed up on, but you get the idea. 2-3 fabric flowers in charcoal gray/silver or any other color you want them. Then a series of three or four large-ish rhinestones in the same color, dangling off the last flower. The problem with this is that it requires a lot of patience because if the placement is a bit off, It could look to kitschy or grandma-like.

Hope I helped...

i like this idea. perhaps you could do a starburst design?

also, i like the flowers that were done with photoshop-if done correctly they could look very elegant. goodluck!

With regard to the bridesmaids dresses the picture looks rather like the infinity dress by Rostitchery elsewhere on Craftster.  The thread is called the Quickie Dress that Anybody can Make.  A company in Australia called Two Birds sells an infinity dress for bridesmaids. Their website at http://www.twobirdsbridesmaid.com/dress/classic shows a picture of the dress with the top like the one in your photo.

Thank you so much for all of the ideas and words of encouragement! I'm really excited to make this dress "mine", I think I am set on sewing some flowers and beading onto it.

Here is  a picture of flower detailing on a dress I tried on and LOVED, the only reason I didn't get this dress was because it was, of course, more money and it looked a bit "prom-ish" as my sisters said; it didn't have a train, etc.... But I loved the beading and flowers on it, I really want something like this on my dress but I'm just not sure how to do it. Ideas?

I made a little photoshop edit Tongue

I think you could get the same effect by using those flowers from your first post, and buying a beaded lace applique (like this =tags&includes[1]=title&filter[0]=supplies]http://www.etsy.com/listing/64102348/destash-supplies-lace-triangle-with?ref=sr_gallery_11&ga_search_query=beaded+applique+lace&ga_search_type=supplies&ga_page=&order=&includes[0]=tags&includes[1]=title&filter[0]=supplies )
I think if you could find a pretty grey one of those to go with your flowers you'd have a pretty similar look to that dress Smiley
