Surfing Altoid Tin!

Inspired by the "Skating Tin" http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=2071.0

I made this as part of the Altoid Tin Swap, but thought I would share here, as well.  The surfer & jet skiier have magnets on their bottoms, so when you move the magnets on the bottom of the tin... they move around the water!

That's awesome. My boyfriend is a surfer and I would love to make him something like that. What do you use for the sand and water?

The sand, people, umbrella, and castle are all made from Sculpey clay.  I formed the beach & baked the clay right in the tin.  The little people I baked in an oven safe glass dish.

The water is just a clear glaze... the type that would seal decoupage, paper mache.. mine is made Krylon, but any old glaze from a craft department would work.  I added a tinsy bit of blue food coloring to it... (very little!)

You are welcome!  It's really easy..  

Oh...clean your tin with soap & water and don't touch the area where you want the clay to be, oils on our skin dampened the "stickability" of clay to metal.

That. Is. SO. COOL! That is seriousally awesome! This is most definitally my afvorite altoid tim project ive ever seen! Thats just great! I love the little scene and the sun. I also love the use of many diffrent medias (like wire) on the fishy!

Wow, thanks!  I did 4 different tins for the swap, each one totally different from the next.. but they were all really fun. 

The fishy... I have to admit... I see the ones at the craft stores, the little ones that cost $3-4 for a single sticker made of paper & other elements... then I try to recreate them on my own.  They usually don't look much the same, but they are fun inspiration & way cheaper for me to put together materials I have at home...
