Will you be knitting with a group for KIP day, kittymom? I was trying to find one in my area but was unsuccessful. I'll just have to do it on my own (after I run a 12k).

Still got different projects going on. I've been knitting wristbands (as in sweatbands). I'm making a couple for the friend I'm running with tomorrow.

Also, I've been teaching myself how to knit cables, and I've got a hat on my needles.

aprettymess, I'll be sending good thoughts to you and your aunt.

I forgot about KIP! How could I have forgotten about KIP?!?!

Last night I organized my fabric. It was a big jumbled mess. Now I have it down to 2 rubber made bins. How great would it be if I could get rid of one of those bins by the end of the year?

Inspired by scrappysue and the links she provided to stash organization, I spent three days going through massive amounts of my fabric scraps...it felt great to throw stuff out (well, about one paper bag full)...and then I made stuff!!

I accidentally deleted the pics of the massive "BEFORE" Sad...but I took pics of the "AFTER" that I will post tonight after my camera batteries are recharged!

I am now addicted to making strip quilts...is it fair to use regular fabrics and cut them up? Cheesy  I guess not---but I will soon have more scraps to use up as soon as I cut out the six quilts  I have planned (all from stash...Wink )

AIMR - I must have missed Scrappy Sue's links.  What sizes did you cut your scraps down to?
I'm thinking 5 in 2 in and 3.5 in squares (I saw those suggested somewhere) and then some strips of varying width (most 2.5in) and I was thinking 6.5in squares because Quilts for kids uses that size, but I'd have to have like 3/4 yd so the squares were all the same print.

Any suggestions?  I'm itching to try string quilts, hence the motivation to go through my scraps that and a bottled rainbow quilt and a tokyo map one Smiley

Originally, I was going to cut everything into squares...but when I saw the strip quilts, I knew I wanted to try my hand at them...

Most of my scraps were from backings or left over cuts from quilts, so there were already a lot of strips...I decided to do an 11 " square, so I then sorted into long, medium, short and tiny strips...

I then took all the leftovers from the strips and other scraps and then, if it looked like I could get a 5" square, that is what I cut first...my pile of those is very small!  I then went to 3-1/2", and finally, 2 inches...I have a huge pile of those!  I got a plastic bin and labeled it 2" squares to be cut...I will work on those a little at a time...I did not want to cut them all as I would use some for dotees, notecards, bookmarks, altered journals, etc.  Besides, I am not sure I have the patience to work with 2" on a quilt, but I have seen some great patterns for that size!

For the QFK, I always buy 1 yard as the main fabric so I will always have scraps...as a matter of fact, my strip quilt has pieces of every quilt I have made for them! Cheesy

Oh--and I did have some short strips left but still have 8 more squares to go to finish my quilt...I am going to do a craftalong with blondgirl doing her strip blue jean quilt--those squares look to be about 6"...a much easier scrap to find than an 11" one!
