Speaking of quilts and fat quarters... I have been collecting blue and white fat quarters for years, and I finally did something with them.

It's a lap-sized quilt (36x50 or something like that).  I had to buy two fat quarters to get the variety I wanted, and the binding and batting, but everything else is from stash.  The backing is pieced together with leftovers from a project that's 3 or 4 years old.

So that's most of 7 FQs and about 2 yards of other fabric out of stash.  A much better use of my time than homework.

what a lovely quilt!  I should use up my fat quarters---I buy them and then don't want them either...I get addicted to buying them when there is a sale...Cheesy  I have moved on to charm packs... Sad

Thanks!  The sad thing is I have enough fat quarters left for a whole other quilt.  I think I know what my mom is getting for Christmas...

I'm with you, bananaleg. I never thought much of handmade goods until I became a craftster. Now I can't get enough. This website is the reason I learned crochet!
That bag is flippin' cute and the quilt is really lovely!

You guys probably remember all of the BAD and cheesy crafts of the past (egads, when I look at the macrame owls I made in the 1970's, I am horrified! Smiley )---there are sites and people that love it, no offense, but I think Craftster is more modern and takes a more edgy approach to "crafting"...no tea cosies without irony...where else can you find crochet poo and zombie dolls? Cheesy

I LOVED those owls! They had texture and personality!

But I think it is the 'edgier' feel to crafting today that makes me feel so at home. I've never been one much for Laura Ashley type stuff. I follow the line more like Joan Jett and Pink.  Smiley

They were fun at the time...I am made tons and sold them for $10 at every craft fair I could find...owls paid for one semester of college! Cheesy
