I made this for my oldest son, and maybe a little bit for myself (being that we are a family of scifi nerds and it's all my fault)

I started it in March and then took a really long break over the summer and started doing a few lines here and there starting in Sept and finished it right before Thanks Giving.

I did modify it a bit from my pattern... like I didn't crochet the words as I worked and I crocheted those on after the rest of it was done.  the vertical lines I crocheted on after the rest of the blanket was done.  it was easier than keeping track of all the line of yarn and it helps so the blanket won't stretch too badly over time.

thanks everyone.  I'm glad you all like it so much.

It turned into a labor of love at the end because I wanted it to be heavy duty I did it all in single crochet.

i made a graph and worked from there.  the vertical lines I put on after everything else was done by slip stitch crocheting them in.  the letters I crocheted on last.

I'm so pleased with the end result.  Smiley

As the 9th Doctor would say: Fantastic!

That blanket looks fantastic. How did you maintain sanity while doing such a monotonous stitch? I'd better not let my hubby see this project or he will want me to make him one! I peeked in your Etsy Shop and saw that you are selling the pattern for it there. That's very dangerous information that is. Smiley

I, amazingly, did not go crazy while repeatedly sc for months... I did, however, doze off frequently towards the end.  it's just so warm and snugly.

could I please, please, please get your directions for this blanket?Huh?  We too are sci fi addicts and are soon expecting our 1st grandson.  Would love to make this (though will make it crib size) for the new little one.  My son in law would be completely surprised and very happy with it.  Thanks

I'm selling the graph in my etsy.
the graph is 1:1 so you would really have to do some modifications to make it crib size.   maybe cut down by half or maybe use f hook and sport weight yarn instead of H hook and worsted weight...
