My family does a name draw each year for Christmas and this year i drew my cousin Alan. He ended up with a vegan cookbook 2 aluminum water bottles a t-shirt, puzzle and a crocheted likeness of himself...i got the idea because he and his wife do a lil knitting and they sell jewelry online and i thought he would appreciate something handmade.also he has some distinctive features that i thought would translate well. for the doll i used ogilvy amigurumi dolls pattern from raverly
http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/ogilvy-dolls  and added ears of my own design. the fun part about all of this was picking the beads for his piercings and the fact that my brother tossed him at the cat who then thought it was his.lol
Alan thought it was great and now he has a friend or two who want one of themselves...maybe after Christmas but right now i"ve been to busy to crochet or work on the knitting project i started..( Alan's dad drew my name and he had the idea to put together a basket with all the stuff needed to make the cmas stockings like the one his wife has made for each member of the family. and she doesn't just give out that pattern to everybody so that was awesome so I'm looking forward to exploring knitting again)
anyway enough of my prattling on... Grin heres a pic

Cousin Alan is a lucky man.  His doppelganger is freakin' sweet!
