A few last minute Christmas gifts.

These were done in-the-hoop using a design from Embroidery Library.  I used wool felt without a lining.

Didn't think to put these here instead of page two...

Those are sooo beautiful! you did them on machine? I would have thought they were all hand embroidered; but then- how could you have done them so fast?!  Absolutely in love!

I've been experimenting.  I made one more using the pattern as it is designed.  Then I started playing with substituting other designs using the purse pattern.  The little cardinals having a snowball fight is another design from Embroidery Library.  Since it is for a very little girl, I used a very short strap and will add a button when she gets bigger.

The cardinals are adorable--and great idea on making the purse child safe!

I definitely need to check out that site...I love the designs that Brother sent me, but I need more!!

Hello
I appreciate that the photos on here were taken in 2010 but hopefully you're still crafting and on Craftster, as I'd love to know if you have a little pattern for this bag. I'm also new to machine embroidery, so I'd love to know what you mean by you sewed this in the hoop. I'm assuming that you mean that you cut the fabric to size and then embroidered it. If that's right, I'd love to know how you got the design to go so close to the edge or perhaps the trick is to cut the fabric a few centimetres too big and then trim it down after embroidery.

Thanks for the inspiration if nothing else

Diane

Diane, I sent you a long answer  by PM.  The short answer is that in-the-hoop means that you precut the pieces and do all of the embroidery and most of the construction in the embroidery hoop.  It is usually a multi-step process but you end up with a finished or almost finished project in short order.

The pattern for the bag came from Emblibrary.com

Adorable! I get 95% of my designs from Embroidery Library and the rest from UT.
