Lift-the-flap Peekaboo Quilt - finished. Pic obese!

Hi All,
I made a peekaboo quilt for a little two-year old girl for her birthday. I got the idea of a quilt with flaps and pictures underneath from a quilt in 'Quilt, Baby' by Linda Kopp, but I kinda took it to the extreme. There are 17 peekaboo flaps in this quilt. This is my first really modern style of quilt with sharp lines and so on. It was such fun to make, and much less headache than I anticipated. On to the pics. I made a large single bed quilt, then made a dolly quilt to match (but with no peekaboos). Here they are together:




Here are the various flaps (doesn't that sound rude!)










the binding is strips of the orange fabrics used in the stripes. I love the grey spot fabric - Michael Miller I think. I love grey and orange together.


and here my lovely friend Jan is modelling the back of the doll's quilt Thanks Jan!!


Hope you like - the little girl loves it, crawls on it lifting the flaps and saying 'PEEKABOO!'

Thanks thowethowe. I have not seen her since I gave her the quilt, as I had to go away for a week. Her mom says she does love it. You never know how a two-year-old will react!

I love polka dots. These are huge and so fun.

What a beautiful quilt.
I really like the way the same fabric from the peekaboo is on the underside of the flap. That shows great attention to detail.
The polkadots looks spectacular too.

Oh the fussy cutting was the hardest part of the whole thing. But it was fun to find the pictures in my stash
