Yea, all parcels from Australia to the USA are now subject to an extra $9 screening fee on top of normal postage.
My average postage for a swap parcel is usually $15 to $17 so add an extra $9 to that and it makes a huge difference.
But yes Inchies should avoid that fee - don't think I will be able to offer extras like chocolate or candy anymore with these small package swaps, it will just make too much difference in postage.

If I remember rightly, packages up to 500g don't get the screening fee. I sent out a 5" hoopla embroidery on Saturday that didn't need a fee attached (thank god!)

Like you, nilmerg, I'm gonna have to refuse to send heavy parcels to the US. Inchies = okay, but yeah, nothing over 500g now.

I'm really happy that this swap has appealed to so many people and we have a few first time swappers too. Hopefully after a couple of rounds of beginners inchie swapping we might feel confident enough to play with the big kids!

Due to the popularity of the swap we have had to recruit a co-organiser. Thanks to Yumjello01 for volunteering. I will probably handle most of the sign up stuff, so keep those questionaires comming to me but once we have partners I will assign half the group to YumJello01 to keep track of sent and recieved.#

@Kitten Wrangler yes anything over 500g to the states has the extra screening fee applied. I'm going to either have to pick swaps/items carefully so they weight or for swaps that are likely to be heavier state a preferance not to swap with USA! Which would be horrible as it seems that most of the craftster community is based there, and so many talented people :0(

Thanks for co-organizing Yumjello and thanks again, nilmerg for organizing! I'm getting SO excited to get started. The supplies I purchased will hopefully arrive soon.

Hurray, I'm on the list! Hopefully btwn now and receiving partners I can get my crafting room whipped into shape. There are partially unpacked boxes everwhere with random bits and bobs strewn in between. And I know I have some papercrafting supplies mixed in there somewhere!!

I'm really excited for this one- fun and low-stress! Love it.  Grin
