Welcome to our first 2 swappers. I can't wait to start sorting out some fabrics this swap. I have managed to pick up loads of new ones that I haven't even cut for myself yet, so once this Christmas crafting is done I might get into that! We don't have any returning swappers yet, but hopefully they will join us soon.

I recieved some amazing fabrics in the post yesterday. I ordered them from the states. The most expensive one was $10 a metre - we pay about $20+ a meter for most fabrics here! So even with the interenational shipping it worked out cheeper.

I got lots of diggers and road signs, mazie mouse letters and numbers, a greatt kis drawings one with dinosoars, cars, bugs and all sorts on it! Really excited to start cutting.

WIll give the participants a nudge after Christmas and see if they want to join. Otherwise, I guess we might just have 2 partners each!

I am still trying to get a swap out the door and waiting on feedback, but I do plan on joining.  I have been planning to make the quilt pictured for a long time now and when I saw the picture for this swap, I knew I had to join Cheesy

I bought some new fabrics today, and cut a bunch out.....until I remembered that I said I'd swap with 2 people instead of 1!  D'oh!  Oh well, I'll do more cutting tomorrow.  I've also raided my mom's and MIL's stashes, and am going to the quilt store tomorrow for a few more fat quarters.

I'm trying to decide how I want to put together my own quilt.  I LOVE the magnifying glasses but have neither the time nor patience to do that.  I might put it together with black sashing between the blocks instead.

As for my quilt I have a vague idea of making an attic window.

Sign ups close tommorrow, so if you have been lurking and considering, then send in your questionaire before it is too late!

I'm going to to my quilt in blocks of 25 with every alternate square being a tone-on-tone plainer print. I'm going to quilt as I go too to save a huge quilting marathon at the end. I was hoping to start in the new year, but now I'm signed up to 4 swaps and have an eye on a fifth and I'm not sure if I'm going to have time for my eye-spy quilt! hehe!

Are the fabrics required to be pre-washed?  I guess it wouldn't be a big deal to wash the squares when they get here since a little shrinkage would be okay for what I plan to do.  But I just wanted to ask.  All of my fabrics are prewashed since I wash them as soon as they come home, but I wanted to make sure.  I know some quilters prefer to not have their fabric washed.

In the last swap, lots of people objected to the pre-wash requirement, so it was removed. However I wash ALL my fabrics as soon as they come into the house a always quilt with prewashed fabrics to avoid uneven shrinkage in the finished product. I guess that if it is really important to you you can just confirm with your partners if the fabrics have been prewashed or not. At least by requesting a 4.5 inch square when you need a 4" circle as you have done is the best way to ensure that you have enough to allow for any shrinkage.

I also wanted to mention that there are a huge number of great swaps being launched in the next couple of weeks and I'm sure you are all keen to join in with some of these more challanging swaps, therefore I would like to suggest that we all try to send early as there are a lot of international swappers and I will give feedback to each individual as soon as I have recieved PM's to confirm that they have recieved and that their packages have been recieved by their partners. Hopefully the postal service will pick up it's act in the New year and deliver a bit more speedily!

I managed to get some time to myself tonight, so I have cut all my squares. Off to the post office tomorrow afternoon anyway, so as long as I get them packaged up, then I will be popping them in the post tomorrow!

I will start a gallery soon too and post the link in the first post. We had a really nice gallery last time. I think most people took a photo of All the squares together and then a closer one with their 6-9 favourites in it. It would be great if you could try to take a picture when you recieve and post it there for the rest to see. OR if you are a speedy sewer, I would love to see some of your i-spy quilts!
