Glitter is the Herpes of the Arts and Craft World!

Ok, I know it's almost Christmas, but I've been so busy lately I haven't had time to post let alone do any sort of crafting  Sad  So, here it is, my 2010 Halloween Costume, a dark fairy.

The costume consists of a corset (my first ever!), a tulle tutu (another first!), and a pair of evil wings (omg! another first!).

I made the neckline a sweetheart, and decorated it with glitter glue and lots of plastic gemstones (it looks kind of blah in the picture, it's much shinier and pretty in person.)

The wings, that I had the most trouble with, but took the least amount of time, are just a few wire hangers bent into shape and wrapped with red tulle, and hold up the black tulle for the "skin" part.

I made the back of the tutu a bustle for some more pizazz. You can really see it in this pic but even with measure twice cut once, i ended up with a corset that was entirely wayyyy to big in the boobs, so it kind of swooped out at the top in the back.

But there you have it. In all it took me about 3 days to make the corset, it's a LOT of cutting and pinning, a day to make the tutu, and about an hour to make the wings. lol I had so much fun prancing around in this. Oh, and I did my make up, which i'll have to find a picture of later, like from this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FjEJSgi8Yvw only in black and red of course.

I love anything that involves a tutu.   Wink  That's a really interesting way of doing the wings.  It's a lot softer and more abstract than wings I've seen before.  Good job.
