These snowball ornaments are for my Mom's tree.  Her main Christmas tree only has handmade ornaments on it (aside from the lights, that is), so I think she'll like these!

I started with a fairly basic sphere pattern in white Bernat Soft Boucle.  Then I made up the hats as I went.

Here they are as a group:

This one is my favourite hat.  I meant to make it a totally different shape (I was aiming for "Santa hat"... really), but when it came out all pointy like that, it just seemed to beg for a ruffled edge, so there you go!

This is the last hat I made.  It wasn't exactly what I was aiming for, either, but I like it anyway.  It's a kind of hood, I guess.

I made this hat last night.  It's hard to tell from both the picture AND in person, but I used front post dc stitches to make a bit of a rib.  I didn't like how this one turned out at all, but when I showed it to mr.fantastic, he said it reminded him a bit of a beret, so...

This is the first hat I made, out of some variegated yarn I got in a swap.  It looks a bit like a baseball hat, but with a more wrap-around-y brim:

What perfect ornaments from a crocheting daughter!

The little noses are so tiny!

They all turned out with such personalities!

They turned out so great! What happened to the one with the hat with the pompom?

The hat with the pompom started to fall apart.  It seems I somehow managed to miss working into a stitch, so there was a dc stitch just sort of hanging on by a thread.

I wasn't happy with how I'd attached the hanger, or how the eyes turned out, and a bunch of other things. lol

Bummer! But I guess that's what happens to test projects sometimes?

It was that weird not-attached-dc that cemented its position as "prototype". lol

The one with the hood reminds me of a bonnet, the ruffly edge pointy one reminds me of clowns, the ridged one does indeed look like a beret, and the other cap makes me think of golfing caps.  They've got a lot of personality with all their different hats.  Very cute!

These are so adorable!  How big are they?  I love the one with the pointy hat!
