Schnerby, that postcard is of the Gates of Paradise - Ghilberti's bronze reliefs on the doors of the baptistery in Florence.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battistero_di_San_Giovanni_(Florence)  They were a pretty big deal to Michaelangelo.

I should have mentioned that! I recognised the reliefs from my art history time at uni. I was rather taken by the dapper tourists, though. I couldn't imagine backpacking with a three-piece suit.  Grin

This gallery is looking mighty fine.
I recognised them from when I was living in Florence.

Yeah, okay. I"ll stop boasting.

I love intricate little designs like that. I used to design a ton of them using Microsoft Paint back when I was 15... unfortunately I think all that stuff is now lost on obsolete computing equipment.

Neat! Is that embroidered on terry cloth?
It's a grey stretch velvet that I happened accross in the remnents bin at joann's

The theme is that Jexxican likes zombies and purple and "pretty things."  So I made a zombie appocalipse with purple geological detailing (it was supposed to be a cityscape but I think it came out looking like some sort of desert stone formation) and then I added some lazy daisies for the pretty.

I agree! I love all the colors and details. I also think the velvet fabric was a very cool idea. I love seeing all of the different fabric selections people make and the impact it really has on the overall hoop-feel.

MommyTheMaid - your new hoops are marvelous! I adore the little elephants and who wouldn't love a Lorax?! Great stuff!
