Thanks everyone! Yes, it's basically traditional stumpwork techniques. The wire framework wasn't pre-shaped - the slip was stitched on red silk, 2 folded pieces of wire couched on the back, and then cut out and stitched into its 3D shape, stuffing as I went.

I love purple kitty!! and Hello Kitty is super cute Cheesy

WHOA.  The tentacle is so unique and creative and... just... amazing!

Amazing tentacle! I would like to see more 3-d work. Maybe we could do a 3-d swap?

I thought about suggesting a stumpwork round, but I thought I'd be the only embroidery nerd that would be interested.  Tongue  I'd LOVE to do one of these!

Here is my addition to this already awesome gallery: a beautiful piece of stitched artwork created for me by kwiltykate. It is absolute perfection in every way; from it's circles and ovals to it's stitched texture.

Photographic proof of it's awesomeness:

Close up of the stitching and texture:

And in it's new home in my small but growing hoop wall:

Thank you so much kwiltykate!!!!

I think what quiltykate made was some mind blowing awesome, too. sure, ilove the tentabcle, but everyone's posting about that (because it's so awesome). I could never do anything like either, to be honest, so I am blown.
