great bag and tutorial! I found it very helpful in making my own, although I didn't quite follow it completely. I made a bag for myself out of old pants and a little camo fabric i had for the lining. I realy just wanted something I could carry around knitting stuff and notebooks in because my backpack was ugly and broken
I'm amazed it turned out! I hadn't sewn since like 7th grade in school haha. (I'm a senior now about to graduate)
Thanks for the tutorial!

I guess it's nice to know that I'm not the only one who can't see them. Just found this yesterday and thought it would be pretty neat, if it weren't for the missing pictures...

Really great tute - thanks!
But, I'm trying to find those plastic fasteners and not having any luck. Where did you get yours? Do you know what they're called?
Thank you!

Ack, sorry for the super long reply, for some reason craftster had stopped sending me updates for this thread
If you already made your bag, this won't be too helpful, but you might want to make another anyways. I really like the idea of a bag that actually controls an ipod, my poor ipod needs a case desperately right now, but I'm not living with "my" (my mom's) sewing machine. I used vinyl to make my bag, vinyl looks really cool, but it's definitely not the easiest, nor the best lasting fabric. I'd recommend using a thick cotton or canvas type material (easier to sew and much more durable), because you can use pins instead of scotch tape and paperclips. You can also get premade cotton piping, which is very nice. I just used plain old iron-on interfacing, it was the only time I'd used interfacing, so I'm not sure what other types exist. I say go for the cheap iron-on stuff, because that's what I used. I hope it goes well, when you're done, or if you're already done, PLEASE post pictures! I'd be very excited to see it

Well, the first few plastic fasteners I actually found in my house because, believe it or not, my dad cuts them off the old bookbags my brother and I wear out. I don't know why he does this, but it came in useful when I made the bag. When I ran through his supply, I got them at Canadian Tire, but I'm pretty sure the local sewing store had some too. I think any department store like walmart or zellers would most likely carry them as well. I don't know what they're officially called. I always just called them "those-plastic-fastener-things-like-on-bookbags" (because I'm so articulate)

I bought the most beautiful brown embroided corduroy fabric the other day with hopes to make a bag from it. I'm half way through making your amazing messanger bag and I must say, A+ on the tutorial! It's easy as pie and I'm having a blast making my bag! I can't wait to finish, but I think I need some sleep before I continue

Thank you very much for the complements, they really do mean a lot to me. You should definitely send me a link to the bag once it's finished and you have pictures
