Another Matchbox Advent (pic chubby)

I jumped on the matchbox advent calendar bandwagon this year . I was inspired by one I saw on Sweet Paul (http://sweetpaul.typepad.com/my_weblog/) as well as many of the calendars others have shared here!



I took some in-process photos in case anyone is interested in how I did this.

I stamped 25 matchboxes and then lined them each with holiday papers.



I glued the outsides of the boxes together with hot glue. I row of 9, one of 7, one of 5, etc...


I wrapped each row in holiday paper and then hot glued the wrapped rows together in the shape of a tree.


Last but not least, I filled each box with special treats and whimsies!

This is AMAZING! I love all the wooden advents I've seen redecorated, but I seriously love the idea of using matchboxes!! It's awesome, and i wish I had thought of it!!! Well, I'll be wisting, adding to my favorite projects, and putting something similar on my to do list.

It really was easy to make and I hope others will give it a try. I think I would use wrapping paper instead of card stock next time though. The creasing and scoring of the thick paper is what took the longest .

I made 3 of these for my kids ages 15, 11 and 9 and the just love them. I do this differently every year and this is there favorite so far.    When they get home from school, it is the first thing they run to.  lol!  Thank you so much for sharing.

I managed to find the matchboxes at the grocery store - next to the fire logs and lighter fluid . I picked up a ton of them!

First off, I'd like to say that this is awesome and is currently on my list of Things-to-do-next-Christmas   

Second, but in no way the least... I LOVE that gum!  As a kid, my day wasn't complete without a visit to the village Mom & Pop store to buy a handful of those fragrant and flavorful pieces of heaven.  My mom still puts them in the care packages she sends me.  I mean really, who wouldn't love a gum that came with tattoo just for you

This is so awesome and adorable!
I received my first advent calendar while living in germany. My friend and I spoiled the fun of it by opening all of the little tabs at once to get to the chocolate.
