I got the pattern from Better Homes and Gardens Christmas Through the House.  It's supposed to be thread crochet, but I had glittery Christmas yarn and decided to make it bigger.  By chance, it fit within a 12 inch embroidery hoop, and I basted onto star light fabric and added shiny ribbon to hide the loop screw tightening thingy.  I am quite proud of it!!

How pretty! I think the glittery yarn was a good choice! Very creative idea, mounting it to the embroidery hoop! You could totally use that as a tree topper if you put something on the bottom so it could hold onto the tree. Thanks for sharing!

I agree with charizomai.5, this would make a great tree topper! I think the yarn was a good choice - the extra sparkle is a very nice touch Smiley.

OooOOooOoooOOoh this is soo pretty..I saw the word Bethlehem and it caught my eye, because I grew up in Bethlehem...not the one in Palestine, the one in Pennsylvania.  I consider myself a bit of an expert on Christmas stars of all kinds, and this star is prettier than anything I've ever seen in the Christmas-gone-crazy hometown of mine.  I love how you've mounted this.  Super excellent work!  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

I love making thread crochet patterns with regular yarn and bigger hooks.  It's so much easier on the hands.  Sometimes, though I get huuuge doilies!!
