Beautiful. I love the black background - it really makes the colors pop.

That is one beautiful blanket.  I love the colours, the pattern, everything.  I can't imagine weaving in all those ends though (granted even a couple ends leaves projects languishing unfinished for years around here).

One question though, what does the back look like?

I am actually the amazingly lucky recipient of the blanket! I love it so much, I can't even tell you. It's special because my Grandma's blanket that I destroyed (but still have the remains!) was  very sentimental, I was really close to my Grandma. Now this one is special because it is an homage to my Grandma's blanket, and it was made by a very wonderful friend, so it's doubley loved. But aside from the sentimental factor, this blanket is one GORGEOUS work of art! It is very high on my "to save in case of fire" list! It's super soft and the colors are just beautiful and vibrant. As for the back, it looks pretty much like the front, except the flowers are slightly less 3-D. It's really beautiful from both sides! I can take a pic tonight if you want to see the back. Mio is a mindblowing crochet wizard!

I was hoping you'd see this post, batgirl!  I sifted through the many pics I took of this blanket, and not a single one shows the back... even the fuzzy cell phone pics.  I'm not sure how I managed that.

I've made a note to take a shot of all sides of things from now on.  You never know!

ETA: until a pic of the back is posted... I was surprised at how the back turned out (which made me doubly surprised that I have no picture of it!).  Before the black rounds were added, the flowers were round, and were cupped on the back.  When I added the black, it seemed like the blanket had defied the laws of physics because the front remained pokey-outy, but the back flattened out.

I will post a pic of the back (and the blanket in it's happy new home) tonight. It's really pretty from the back as well, it could easily be mistaken for the front, although the actual front has a cooler 3-d effect. If you didn't see the front, though, you wouldn't think it was the back, if you see what I mean?
