How was it difficult? I find most varieties of felt to be a pleasure to work and embroider with.

Felt is so versatile and so darn cute!

I worked with felt for the first time this week....so painful. Is there an easy way to embroider it?

Trying to embroider straight on it, I could not get nice neat wording no matter how hard I tried. I used various strands of floss. Do you need to use a stabilizer? Should I have used a tapestry needle instead of a normal needle?
I don't have anywhere near this much trouble with the fabrics I usually use

I've never really had much of a problem and never used stabilizer with it. Mostly I've done backstitch on felt, but I don't imagine that other stitches would behave weirdly on it either. =/ And I used a regular embroidery needle. Sorry I'm not much help.

It may have just been poor quality felt. I bought a couple of multipacks from Spotlight, worked out to 50cents a 20cm x 30cm sheet/piece

Today I learned how to make t-shirt yarn

And although I'm going to need to make a ton more to make a braided rug, I'm going to count the learning as a project!

shan-E-bear - super cute hat (and adorable model!)

QueenNinjaMonkey - Your t-shirt yarn turned out great! I have been trying to buy inexpensive t-shirts to make t-shirt yarn but haven't actually made any yet. That is definitely a project that I want to do this summer!

Cursive_queen...a lot of the sheet felts are very abrasive and stiff...they are made for glueing projects and such...the felt I use for my pincushions and Christmas ornaments is soft and wonderful...I also love wool felt...I agree with sheepblue...I don't use anything special...it is my favorite way to embroider!

shan-e bear--omg--that is the cutest baby!  Oh, and the hat is adorable, too!

great job on the t-shirt yarn...
