lol, yeah, I can't knit.  Like at all. It's awful.  I got a cute little kit, and I've been trying, but so far not much luck.  I can crochet like a mad-woman, but needles just confound me, lol.

I think you should switch to magnetic ones  Smiley  I looooove my magnetic ones.  I have to admit that mine are store bought however there are tutorials online to make them as well.  It's an extra added bonus that if you drop a pin, all you have to do is slowly run that baby across your floor and the pin will be found - and not by your bare foot!    Sad

I finished the cowl. Now I need to do the hat to go with it, and  then I can cross one project off my list. It was beautiful and unseasonably warm here today, so I took my Knifty Knitter along to the park, and watched the turtles basking on logs in the pond (in December!) while finishing it up. Before I left, I marked the place where I needed to sew the top part with a length of waste yarn. I winged it on sewing it in place. It seems to have turned out okay. I'm going to need it very soon, because another cold front is moving in tonight. Pix are posted in the Knifty Knitter thread here:

http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=51877.msg4331629#msg4331629

Edited to add:
I just tried it on again, and pulled it up like a hood. It works well that way, so I don't need to make a hat. I will need to be more careful to leave some less tension in my sewing on the next one, though. There will be a next one for sure. This was a great project, and very fast. Once I get better at them, I'll make a few as gifts. Smiley

[ramble] Me too! I took so long to learn how to knit. My mother tried to teach me, but she hates knitting so she was impatient, and I failed miserably. Then I took a class and now I can decrease, increase, purl and knit on straight needles, and nothing else. Even those I tend to mess up. Crochet is even worse. I can only do a chain stitch (sort of). I just can't stand knitting because of the way I hold my yarn/needles. I'm a lefty turned righty, so both of my hands are sort of dominant, so I can't figure out a good way to hold it, and I end up getting "yarn burns" and finger sores because I put my finger on the top of the needle, and use the other hand to push the loop of yarn up, then let go, but that pokes my fingers out. In a few weeks I'll buy a knifty knitter set, because they seem fun and I really like loom knitting.[/ramble]
