Yeah.. probably lathering yourself up with wool isn't a good idea if you're allergic! But, you're right--you can appreciate all the other fibers!  Cotton, silk, hemp, linen, soy.  Mmm!

Most people do not realize that it is NOT the wool that people are allergic to, it is the wool allergens in lanolin. The trick is to buy wools that have no allergens, such as baby alpaca or hypoallergen wools where extra care is used to remove the lanolin.

I love all yarns, acrylic or natural, depending on the project.  My new favorite right now is baby alpaca.

I now have to put spin yarn on my list because SOMEONE tattled on me.

I hear you on the lanolin.  I am also very careful to not buy lotions that have it in it... although the lotions do not bother me nearly as much as wool.  I've tried to use/touch wools other than sheep and it still gets to me.  When I was in the service, we had wool blankets in basic training and I was broken out the entire time I was there.  They said I just had acne and it wasnt' the blankets... they don't believe anything that recruits say... they started to believe me after I told them I was allergic to rubbing alcohol.  They told me I was just trying to get out of the shots and swabbed me down then watched my arm swell up from my elbow to shoulder... no apologies though just a move along and wipe that girl down with some soap and water to see if it will help lol. Ahhh good ol' times  Cheesy

Where's that whistling smiley when I need it??

So, hypothetically speaking, of course, what happens if we start our list early??? Death by knitting needles?

its ok you don't need 50 to start with. many people are just listing down the things that they know that they want to make off the top of their head, and then add things when they see or hear about something that interests them

I think making gifts for babies and weddings are a great thing to put on a list, batgirl!  I am sure your list will grow and grow!

yarn or thread--I did not mean to imply that there is no such thing as a wool allergy...I just get sad to know that so many people cannot use the various natural yarns out there!  I can't wait to see your projects...I am sure your crocheted items will once again be on my list as well! Cheesy

I found it helpful to put the link to this thread in my signature...that way, I could always find my list! Cheesy

Because I'm CONSTANTLY updating my list, each time I add/remove/change/complete an item on it, I PM it to myself Smiley  That way, I can hit Quote on the PM, remove the quote lines, and all the bold, strikethrough, etc. formatting is there and I can select all and copy and paste into each post as I work through my projects and post pics!  Yeah, I'm TOTALLY, anally organized about stuff Tongue  Plus, it's so satisfying to see my list again each time I post it and see how much I've done from the beginning thru the end.
