waggons, I LOVE that mini messenger!  I can't look at blogs at work...did you use a pattern, or was that little guy one of your own design?

I have a beat-up J Crew vertical messenger bag with a big hole on the back side near a bottom corner that I have intentions of embellishing to make my own with embroidery, patches, ribbon, and anything else I can get my hands on to make it my own   I may have to pack it full of things to use on it and start taking it to work and friend's houses to work on.

The cherry blossom bag is so cute!  I also laughed at the in-between sushi!

The mini messenger is also clever--recycled stuff is just so popular now..I would make sure that you put on a tag stating that it is recycled...I attach a little card to all of my recycled goods...people like to read about what you made the item from!

I think they would be cute with those big button and cord closings...I see that a lot on stuff my young nieces carry...you would need to make the flap a bit smaller...or, maybe you could fashion something from the belt loops of the pants or make belt loops...a belt loop and a toggle type button?

You can also use belt loops as loops to attach the shoulder strap to...or for a key chain holder...or to hold a pen...you can use the zipper in the lining to make a pouch..cut around the zipper leaving some of the pant fabric...

I'm still alive!!!  I just haven't really been able to craft on anything that's not for a swap.  sadness!  I really should force myself to take a break from swaps.  I'm working on an embroidery hoop for a friend of mine at school right now.  Hoping to get it done by her birthday October 18.  Almost done with my Halloween swap and I sent my hoop off to Luckdragon for the Hoopla swap yesterday.  So I'll be posting pictures of that as soon as she gets it!  And I'll post pictures of all the Halloween-y goodness as MissingWillow opens it!

I have been reading a bunch of different patterns for making messenger bags.  What I did is essentially a variation on the tote bags I've been making with only one strap and the addition of a flap. 

The front and back are rectangles 4 units long to 3 units high.  Scale it to what you want.  ....  I think I will make another one and do a quick tute.  It would be easier.  I'll let you know when I get it posted. 

I'm going to claim one more project for the badges I've made over the past few days.  I've been doing them in multiples of 6.

Thanks WW! I meant to add on here, apologies to anyone who wanted before pictures on the whimsy art. The stormtrooper piece was actually my first whimsy art, which resulted in me wanting to make one for keeps. So no before pictures yet, I'll be sure to get them next time!
