the pattern is ripley from whimisical little knits made in a size medium for the band and large for the hat. so that it will stay on better and hold the hair in.

And just to whet your appetite meleriffic, here is my parcel that arrived yesterday:

Three (count 'em, three!) balls of that luscious rainbow self striping yarn always made the scarf from. I asked her for this, since I can't find it anywhere here, and all the wonderful projects it's used in on Ravelry left me with serious yarn envy. Plus, two balls of a very nice purple varigated, three tiny erasers (Mine! Until the kids spot them, but they haven't yet!) 2pks of stickers, and a postcard of the Hershey factory. Which is cool, because I collect postcards for mixed media pieces. (And I'm thinking of papering my laundry with all the ones I can't bear to cut up).

And also:
A craftster button, which has already taken pride of place on my button handbag. Yay!

Thanks, alwaysinmyroom! It's so exciting!

I am super jealous of the machine too!  I am sewing on a Brother that I got at goodwill for $20.  I can't be too greedy though; I did just get a new in the box Singer Dressform in my size for $70 off Craigslist.  I almost didn't buy it, so my boyfriend said he would split the cost with me!  I may or may not have sneaked away from the lab for an hour to come home and put it together last night... Grin
What a great deal! I'm excited for you! I want a dressform even though I don't make clothes(though not having one is probably why I don't). I figure if I have a dressform I would be more apt to make some as the drape method appeals to me. I am thinking eventually I will make a duct tape one.

Alisha!!!! how exciting! I have had my Brother embroidery/sewing machine for three years and I am still learning...I use it to sew but thanks to certain unnamed people here (cough: waggonswest), I am venturing more into the machine embroidery!
It is exciting! So much that I almost wish I didn't know about it because now I've got that dreaded wait. I am already going through that because my phone broke last Sunday and I have been waiting for my new one to arrive. But it is coming tomorrow, so that is good, but waiting for something else just kills. And lucky you for having an embroidery machine!!!

Sorry about the whole embroidery thing Always....  I got my machine back today after a couple hours working with the ladies at the store... I am about to go see if it will finally stitch out a trike on my latest batch of patches.  It is too much fun to not play with.

I am planning my next quilt with it!.

I love the little in-the-hoop monsters!  I've got the pattern for the gingerbread boys but I'm not makin' 'em until Always says its time for WINTER.  (Why is it that we don't make gingerbread cookies in the summer or even the FALL?  Maybe I'll have to make that my next project....  but would it count, being a winter cookie and all?)

Silvermoon, what does your rainbow button say on it?  I have a few misc buttons for a J. Crew long-ways messenger bag I want to embellish with embroidery, buttons, patches, etc. and I'm always looking for new ones that say cool stuff Tongue

The rainbow one says "Wow. Sarcasm. That's original."

I got it (and most of the buttons there) in a Whedonverse swap.

I have a pattern seeking query. I have a bolero scarf pinned on Pinterest (here) and it links to someone selling them on Etsy - for $80. I'd like to crochet myself one (or five) but I'm not quite sure how I'd go about it. At first I thought it was one long tube, with slits to poke arms through, but the scarf/neck bit appears to be flat, and then goes back into a tube.

Any thoughts?
