How was it difficult? I find most varieties of felt to be a pleasure to work and embroider with.

Felt is so versatile and so darn cute!

I worked with felt for the first time this week....so painful. Is there an easy way to embroider it?
Trying to embroider straight on it, I could not get nice neat wording no matter how hard I tried. I used various strands of floss. Do you need to use a stabilizer? Should I have used a tapestry needle instead of a normal needle?
I don't have anywhere near this much trouble with the fabrics I usually use
I haven't had any problems with it, either. I just do a normal stitch--whatever stitch I want to do, and using a normal needle. I haven't had any trouble. Was the felt really low quality? What problem were you having? Was the floss pulling through or something? I always use felt from Michael's and it's usually pretty good quality and doesn't give me any trouble.

When I put the needle through & thought it was in straight line under the first stitch it would end up to one side. It wasn't very thick either. I think it was just really bad quality. We don't have a Michael's, Spotlight is pretty average & they'd be the biggest craft store, I think there's a riot near me though, but they din't have much.

Skittlebub, do you have a Lincraft nearby? Their felt is more expensive than Riot's but I guess you get what you pay for.

The closest lincraft is 45min away (at Glen Waverly) next time I'm near there I'll call in & get some, or I'll order some online, I think they still have a $5 flat rate shipping

Thanks Always!  That picture was our second to last day of school and most of those kids were 5th graders so they're going on to middle school and they were all a hot mess on the last day.

That pillowcase nightgown is adorable!  I love it!  And the little girl looks so sweet.

I love that rainbow twirly skirt and the yarn bombing! I totally need to do some yarn bombing one of these days.

My partner just received a hoop I made so I can post it now, the 2nd try at a "Frida Kahlo" themed hoop. No chances with watercolor this time. I'm not 100% sure the green background was the greatest choice but to be honest when I was picking a fabric it was really calling out to me so I went with it.

Cool starghan!

The pillowcase nightgowns are very pretty.

Good work on the gardens - it is such hard work digging them out!

Sheepblue, I am so impressed by your embroidery!

Oh, and yarn bombing - so cool!  What kind of reaction did people have?

Well I live in a town of less than 600 so I didn't see people much. I saw a few cars, but then a very random fleet of cyclists came by. One knew what I was doing but didn't know about the holiday. She thought it was cool; probably because Maine doesn't really see yarn bombing. As far as other people, I am sure I will hear gossip eventually. We installed a shuffle board court at our house and it doesn't have it's lines yet. We have been having people constantly ask us what the heck we are doing. It's funny hearing their guesses. We installed it a month ago and we are still hearing talk about it. So, it might be a while but I am sure I will hear something from someone eventually. People here always talk about change, because change is abnormal here  Roll Eyes
