Unfortunately, djonesgirl's project did not win the Grand Prize but the crocheters definitely win the prize for most vocal and enthusiastic about this challenge! And I have to say that all of the accessories posted were truly awesome!

Congrats djonesgirl! Her Tunisian Crochet DPN Holder won the crochet challenge!
Now it's time to vote for the Grand Prize winner in the Advanced & Awesome Accessories Challenge! Who will win the full Stitch N' Bitch Library? Crochet or Knit?!
[/s]

Time to vote for a category winner! Vote now through Jan 13th! (Scroll up to vote.)

It's that time! Post your entry thread here!

Let's wrap up 2010 (and kick off 2011!) with an epic challenge! In honor of Debbie Stoller's latest book, Stitch 'N Bitch Superstar Knitting: Go Beyond the Basics, which teaches advanced knitting techniques, we're introducing the Advanced & Awesome Accessories Challenge!

(Sorry she's not crocheting in this pic! It's all we had. Tongue)

Your challenge this month is to make an accessory (Scarves, hats, mittens, gloves, purses, slippers, headbands... there are tons of possibilities!) using at least one of the following techniques:

  • Cables
  • Lace
  • Crochet on the Double
  • Tunisian Crochet
  • Beading
  • Short Rows

The twist? Once this challenge is over, the winner of the crochet challenge will be put head to head against the winner of the knitting challenge that is running at the same time!  The winner of that duel will get the full Stitch N' Bitch library of books!!  Shocked

Rules:

  • Your item must include at least one of the advanced techniques and be something considered an accessory.
  • Craft your project during this challenge period (Dec 3 2010 - Jan 7 2011) only.  Projects created before this time frame will not be removed from the entry board, but they will be excluded from the voting poll.
  • Enter only ONE project.  Your entry can have multiple components to it.
  • You may only enter ONE Awesome Accessories Challenge. If you post a project in both the crochet AND knitting versions of this challenge, your second project will be excluded from the voting poll
  • Post your craft on this board during the period of Dec 31 2010 - Jan 7 2011.  No sooner.  No later.

Voting for the category challenge will happen from Jan 8 - Jan 13 2011. Voting for the Grand Prize winner will happen from Jan 13 - Jan 18 2011

Originality:

It's probably impossible to know whether your project is 100% original, has never been posted on Craftster, or made by anyone else in the past.  But if your project was definitely inspired by something you've seen before, please give credit to that project. Smiley

Prizes:

At the end, I'll set up a poll right here and the first place winner will get a Stitch N Bitch goodie bag containing:
  • 3 skeins of Stitch Nation yarn
  • A pair of knitting needles*
  • A pair of Fiskars scissors
  • 3 project cards (knitting)*
  • A copy of Stitch N' Bitch Crochet: The Happy Hooker
*If you don't knit, use them to learn! Or give as gifts!

Remember, the winner of this challenge will also be entered into a one on one challenge with the winner from the knitting challenge.  They'll duke it out for the Grand Prize: The full Stitch N Bitch library!

Yay, another crochet contest! And we get to smash the knitters *evil laugh* So, err, basically everything that's not sc or dc is considered advanced? I think I know what I want to make if I can get the colors right... yay for another excuse for yarn shopping!
