Upcycled Waste Stream Wreath

...funny that a few of you mention guilt. These creations themselves originate largely from my own guilt. From years of steady waste-accumulation, of having much material for which there is no practical use, I grew dissatisfied with my lack of creative/constructive solutions. I started to rethink my relationship with "garbage" and brainstorm what I could do about it. I try to not generate so much waste in the first place (ugh packaging!), and, with the waste I do generate, create something useful and beautiful.

It's pretty traumatizing for me to go for a walk in the neighborhood on garbage day!

You're my kind of crafter! Most of my projects stem from eliminating or transforming waste. I also love how it reverses the costs associated with crafting. Why buy more stuff that clutters our homes and planet when we can make something as beautiful as your wreath with "trash." Thanks for crafting! "This rocks!"

wow great job!  i love your use of the buttons.  i was trying to come but with an idea for this challenge, but i lacked inspiration and time.  the idea of putting the flowers together with buttons was as far as i got. love your upcycling.  if i have time after finals, i might have to make my own version of this.

not only is this cool because it's made of "trash"... but it's so chic...  it looks like something i'd expect to find in an upscale boutique priced way out of my price range! excellent job!

Your wreath is fantastic!

For a while I could not figure out where you used the paper bags - 'cause I was determined that the brown flowers were made of felt. Or something.
My brown paper bags don't ever look like that!

Mind you, I send overseas Christmas presents. And brown paper bags are just about perfect for wrapping parcels. So I usually have a lack of them at this time of year. But I will remember, in the months to come, for next Christmas!
