I think bottle cap necklaces are pretty silly but I enjoy this one so I thought I'd post it.

It's a *little* bit different from some of the other bottlecap necklaces I've seen in that the epoxy wasn't poured directly into the bottle cap.

Instead, I poured it into a cheap paint pallet, leaving me with little domed shapes. Then I trimmed them and popped them into the bottle cap. That gives it a nice smooth glassy look, which I tried to show in the 2nd picture. It also keeps epoxy from getting all over the bottlecap and looking messy. It also hides any dust that may have settled into the epoxy, since the top layer is now at the back. I have a big problem with dust in my house, I share my studio with 2 other artists.

The little domed shape kind of reminds me of the glass marble magnets, except that the paper is layered into the resin. I think I'll do some more but cut a hole in the back of the bottlecap so light can shine through.

Edit: I made some new ones:

I put some words in the background and in the front placed a tiny paper crane that I use for earrings.

Those are awsome! I like the rounded part instead of doing them straight into the bottle caps!

Heh, I used epoxy resin, since it doenst yellow like the epoxy you use for adhering things. You can get it at a good hardware store (not Lowes) in a little box, its used for finishing countertops.

The downside is it takes FOREVER to dry. 72 hours at my current house temperature Sad

There is some resin dye you can buy, I havent tried it yet, I was going to try regular dye tonight and/or food coloring or paint.  I'll let you know if it works or not!

no, epoxy resin. It's a little bit different. Epoxy glue yellows. I mentioned it a few posts up.
